Tomoyoshi Juliano Date
Medical doctor and musician, born in Sao Paulo in 1977, lived in Brazil until the age of 3, returned to Japan and grew up in Narita, Japan.
8 years old, he started to study the deconstruction of rhythm and melody by playing the piano with only white or black keys using a baseball.
20 years old, he began composing music that would later be called ambient music, combining the Brazilian warmth of live instruments and electronic devices with the wabi-sabi of Japan, through jazz and post-rock, although he was not aware of being an ambient musician.
Released four albums as Tomoyoshi Date and 25 full-length albums worldwide with units such as Opitope (w/ Chihei Hatakeyama), ILLUHA (w/ Corey Fuller) and Melodia (w/ Federico Durand).
He received the German Music Critics Award 2023 for his work on Ryuichi Sakamoto’s memorial disc Micro Ambient Music. http://microambientmusic.info/
In recent years, he is creating the world’s first program on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@432HzMMM) for the automatic generation of music and images in the genuine rhythm.
His piano Trilogy, released on cassette in October 2024, including the piano piece 438Hz As it is, As you are, which was selected as Best Ambient in January 2023.
As a medical doctor, after graduating from Nippon Medical School, he worked for 10 years as a physician in tertiary emergency medicine while researching Chinese medicine and tumor vaccines in the Immunology Laboratory at the same university.
Since 2014, he has opened Tsuyuukusa Clinic (https://tsuyukusa.tokyo/), which combines oriental medicine (Chinese herbs and natural salt) and western medicine.
He also writes various serials, writings and radio activities. Author of ‘Karada to Kokoro no Kankyo’ (eleking-books), Tsuyuukusa no Shiori (Bookmarks of Tsuyuukusa), etc.

伊達・ジュリアーノ・伯欣
医師・音楽家。1977年サンパウロ生まれ、3歳までブラジル在住、日本へ帰国後成田育ち。８歳から野球ボールを用いた白鍵もしくは黒鍵だけのピアノ演奏によるリズムとメロディーの解体を研究しはじめる。20歳からジャズ・ポストロックを経て、アンビエントミュージシャンという自覚はなかったものの、生楽器と電子機器によるブラジル的な温かさと、日本の侘び寂びを融合した、後にアンビエントミュージックと呼ばれるようになる音楽の作曲を開始。
Tomoyoshi Dateとしての４作品をはじめ、Opitope(w/ Chihei Hatakeyama）、ILLUHA(w/ Corey Fuller)、Melodia(w/ Federico Durand）などのユニットで、世界各国から25枚のフルアルバムをリリース。坂本龍一追悼盤『Micro Ambient Music』の制作で2023年ドイツ音楽評論家賞を受賞。http://microambientmusic.info/
