“Tatemono” by Tomoyoshi Date + Stijn Hüwels
Tatemono (建物) is the third collaboration by Tomoyoshi Date and Stijn Hüwels, released on July 9, 2026 via the French label LAAPS (laaps 053) as a limited edition of 150 hand-numbered gold vinyl LPs, 125 CDs and digital.
The two first met in Tokyo in 2015, introduced by Chihei Hatakeyama, and that same evening recorded what would become Hochu-Ekki-Tou (Home Normal, 2019), followed by A Distant Fire, A Distant Cloud (LAAPS, 2021).
Tatemono was recorded by Tolga Tolun at Galiläakirche, Berlin, on 14 November 2024, during a two-day residency that concluded with a live performance on 15 November 2024. Tatemono means “building” in Japanese. Each piece explores a different architectural element, gradually moving from the exterior to the upper structure of an imagined space.

ベルギーの盟友Stijn Hüwelsとの3作目となる共作『Tatemono（建物）』が、2026年7月9日にフランスLAAPSよりリリースされました。限定150枚・ハンドナンバー入りのゴールド・ヴァイナルLP、限定125枚のCD、デジタルの3形態です。
2015年、畠山地平の紹介で東京で出会ったその夜に録音した『Hochu-Ekki-Tou』（Home Normal, 2019）、『遠き火、遠き雲』（LAAPS, 2021）に続く本作は、2024年11月14日、ベルリンのガリレア教会での2日間のレジデンス中に録音されました。翌15日には同じ教会でライブを行っています。古い教会での演奏ということもあり、ゆったりとした作品になりました。
門・扉・廊下・窓・屋根と、想像の建物の外側から上の構造へと、一曲ごとに異なる建築の要素をめぐっていきます。マスタリングは、ミュンヘンで共演したStephan Mathieuが担当しています。
